6th Grade "Fantasy Island" Mapping Project: 6th Grade social studies students just completed part one of a two-part unit project assignment. The purpose of this project was to build on the students’ knowledge of mapping skills to create a fantasy world from the ground up. To receive full credit, students were required to include in their maps the following 6 elements: 1.) a title; 2.) a compass rose; 3.) a map scale; 4.) and a map key; then place their fantasy island somewhere in the real world by 5.) completing the locator map and 6.) adding latitude and longitude lines.
